Austin Bryant House
Princeton, Illinois
This 1856 farmhouse is located in a small town southwest of Chicago. It was about to be razed when our clients bought it. Told by neighbors that the house just couldn’t be heated, we began by making energy models of the existing structure. That allowed us to assess options for renovation that would accommodate for the original, uninsulated brick walls. The renovated house has a tightly insulated attic, low-e windows, and radiant floors. It stays warm in winter and has relatively low heating bills.
